Just a short anecdote from Christmas vacation...

My mom and I return to her house after an afternoon/evening of shopping before Christmas. My grandmother - 86-1/2 years old, bless her - was watching television. She's a little hard of hearing and the volume was down, so I guess she was mostly interested in what was going on visually. We walked in, said hello, put things down, then I noticed what was on TV.

My granny was watching a Cheech & Chong movie. If memory serves, it was "Up In Smoke".

Wow.

Dish Dash

I finally realized that my kitchen is woefully lacking in the dinnerware department. All I have left from several moves are four plates. I don't know how this happened, but it saddens me - the plates were part of a dinnerware set that my dad handed down to me when he originally moved from Austin. They're very nice plates, but I have no bowls, no salad plates, no mugs, cups, saucers, etc. Since I want to follow the awesome example set by Tom and Tiff and start eating better (by cooking at home more, natch), I figured it was high time I rectified this lack of suitable dinnerware.

Stupid People

Just a quick note about how stupid people irk me. Here's one way:
Me: Here's a link to what you were asking about... (link)
Them: it doesn't work
Me: It doesn't work how? What does it say?
Them: error

Now, do people actually work at this, or are they born with the penchant for being uselessly terse?

Can I borrow a dollar, so I can pay attention?

Apparently some asshole posted their ad for "cheap prescription drugs online" in a couple comments here.
